Start your tour with a visit to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, one of the world's biggest Catholic pilgrimage destinations. It is said that in 1917 the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children here and made prophecies that were to change the world.
Spend time exploring the various monuments dedicated to the many apparitions of Our Lady witnessed by the three children. There is the Chapel of Apparitions, built in the exact place where the first apparition occurred; the Basilica of Fatima, the burial ground of the three children; the Holy Trinity Church, the third biggest church in the world and the neighboring town of Valinhos where the apparations first happened to the three children.
