Your adventure begins with a convenient transfer to Kerchor Elephant Family Phuket. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by the Karen people, who have lived alongside elephants for generations. You’ll then choose between two distinct experiences, each offering a unique way to bond with these majestic animals and learn about their care.
Start by changing into your mahout outfit, and get introduced to the elephants' behavior and habits. You’ll hand-feed these gentle giants, experiencing their playful nature up close. Following the feeding session, you’ll head to the river for a refreshing shower with your elephant buddy. This short but immersive program provides a glimpse into the sanctuary’s mission of care and conservation.
For a more immersive experience, this program expands on elephant care with added activities. After dressing in your mahout outfit, you’ll engage in a hands-on lesson about interacting safely with the elephants. The highlight comes with a mud spa session, where you’ll bond further while covering your elephant in cooling mud. Walk alongside your elephant through the surrounding jungle, enjoying the peaceful landscape.
This program also includes a unique opportunity to learn Karen fabric tie-dyeing and concludes with a traditional Thai buffet meal. A souvenir photo captures your time at the sanctuary, ensuring memories that will last long after your visit.
Throughout both programs, you’ll be immersed in the rich Karen traditions, learning their long-held bond with elephants. Whether you choose the shorter program or the half-day experience, you’ll leave with a newfound appreciation for these gentle giants and the cultural heritage that surrounds them.
