The story

Hadestown tells a poignant tale of love's trials and tribulations through the lives of two couples — Orpheus and Eurydice, who struggle with poverty, and Hades along with his wife Persephone. When Persephone is unhappy about returning to the Underworld after visiting above ground, Hades sets out in search of someone who will value what he offers. He finds Eurydice and persuades her to join him in exchange for food and protection. Agreeing, she becomes a worker at Hadestown, the dark factory beneath the earth run by Hades. Upon learning this, Orpheus is determined to rescue his beloved Eurydice. The story unfolds into an emotional journey of sacrifice, triumph, and fate's enigmatic workings.
