Have you ever wanted to visit the famous Scottish Highlands? This one-day tour from Edinburgh takes you to some of the most beautiful sites of the Western Highlands, including Loch Lomond, Loch Awe, Kilchurn Castle, Stirling Castle and Doune Castle.
As you leave Edinburgh, you'll head west, passing the historic and imposing Stirling Castle, high on its volcanic rock and going on to Doune Castle (you might know it from the famous movie ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’).
After a refreshment stop in the picturesque village of Luss on the shores of Loch Lomond, the route climbs into the Arrochar Alps, with a scenic pause at the famous Rest and Be Thankful Pass, offering sweeping mountain views. The journey then continues to the loch-side town of Inveraray on Loch Fyne, where you’ll have time to explore the town, browse local shops, or choose an optional visit to Inveraray Castle (April to October only), set within beautiful gardens and famously featured in Downton Abbey.
Following lunch, the tour ventures deeper into the Highlands, stopping to admire the dramatic setting of Kilchurn Castle on Loch Awe. The return journey to Edinburgh showcases classic Highland scenery through Glen Ogle and alongside Loch Lubnaig, before heading south with a final refreshment stop at the Green Welly and a photo opportunity near Stirling Castle.
